Art League of Baytown Upcycle Art Challenge 2025

Art League of Baytown is pleased to host our fifth annual Upcycle Art Challenge September 19 - October 17, 2025 with co-sponsor Chevron Phillips Chemical Co.

The goal of the upcycling challenge is to raise environmental awareness by promoting action through reusing, recycling and repurposing materials to create art.

The contest categories are 1) decorative and 2) functional 3) wearable plastic fashion art pieces that serve a purpose.

Each piece must feature 80 percent material recycled from some previous use. Glue, screws and other fastening devices are NOT included in the remaining 20 percent. A list of all  recycled/upcycled parts must be included when the art is submitted online.

A brief artist’s statement must be included with the work to explain what the artist is conveying in the work or the object’s value, use or impact.

Applications for the juried art show must be submitted online through ArtCall.org July 5 – August 30, 2025
Entries will be judged on visual impact, creativity/originality, composition/design, craftsmanship and material usage.
